BRiCk hours change effective Sept. 7 (pdf)
The last day of the season for the outdoor pool at the Burleson Recreation Center (the BRiCk) is Monday, Sept. 6. Labor Day also marks the end of the peak season for the BRiCk. This reduction in hours will allow BRiCk staff to maintain the quality of the center more effectively during peak summer operational hours.

The Burleson Police Department’s Community Resource Officer program has added a new face. Officer Jack Goleman is a 23-year veteran of the Burleson Police Department. He served as a patrol officer and trained new recruits before becoming the City's, and the Burleson Independent School District’s, first school resource officer 17 years ago.

The Burleson Police Department’s Citizens on Patrol program and coordinator Sgt. Diron Hill were honored Friday night with two top awards from the Texas Citizens on Patrol Association (TCOPA) at a banquet in Granbury. The Citizens on Patrol (COPs) program won the award for the Small (less than 100,000 population) Citizens on Patrol Association of the Year. Hill won Citizens on Patrol Coordinator of the Year.

Police, railroad combine forces for railroad crossing enforcement detail (pdf)
The Burleson Police Department’s traffic unit and Union Pacific Railroad joined forces again Wednesday for a railroad crossing enforcement detail. Seven drivers, including one driving a commercial vehicle, received citations for disregarding the railroad crossing lights and arms at the Alsbury Boulevard crossing. Citations carry a fine of approximately $176 in Burleson.

No fireworks inside the city limits (pdf)
The storage, use, possession or sale of fireworks is prohibited inside the city and within 5,000 feet of the corporate limits of the City of Burleson. The exception to the rule is the City’s Fourth of July fireworks show, which is free to the public. That show is slated for approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 4, at the Hidden Creek Sports Complex on I-35W. A licensed pyrotechnician coordinates the fireworks.

Rabies confirmed in skunk on Royal Oak (pdf)
A test on another skunk in Burleson has returned positive for rabies. Two dogs killed a skunk on Sunday, April 25, in the 800 block of Royal Oak, which is located in a subdivision east of I-35W in Burleson. Both dogs involved in this incident are current on their rabies shots. The dogs received a rabies booster shot the same day as the incident.

Nine drivers ticketed in railroad crossing enforcement detail (pdf)
Members of the Burleson Police Department’s traffic unit wrote nine tickets to drivers today for disregarding a traffic control device at a railroad crossing. The ticket writing was part of a combined educational effort of the police department and the Union Pacific Railroad to educate drivers about railroad crossings.
