Severe Weather Information

Do you want to stay on top of what’s happening with the weather? All you need is a computer and internet access.

Log on to the National Weather Service web site, http://www.nws.noaa.gov/, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For a direct link to Johnson and Tarrant counties, log on to http://www.weather.gov/alerts/tx.html, then scroll down to the county you reside in for the latest forecast. The map that shows the areas that are in the tornado, severe thunderstorm and flash flood warning areas as well as tornado and severe thunderstorm watch areas, is accessed by logging on to  http://www.srh.noaa.gov/fwd/gwarn/nwswarning.html

Make sure you are signed up with the City’s Connect-CTY service. You will be notified via email, text message, and phone (one or all three methods) if there is a severe thunderstorm warning, flash flood warning or tornado warning. Sign up for Connect-CTY by logging on to the City’s web site at www.burlesontx.com and clicking on the “Sign Up Now . . . services by Connect-CTY” button at the top of the home page.

Residents are also strongly encouraged to buy a weather radio with S.A.M.E. technology with the programming to receive local alerts. Most retail stores have NOAA weather radios in stock.
