Municipal Court

The Municipal Court has jurisdiction over Class C misdemeanors issued by City police officers, fire marshal, code enforcement officers and animal control officers. The Court Clerk's office is responsible for processing the clerical work of the court, setting trial dockets, collecting court fines and fees, maintaining court records, and performing administrative duties delegated by the Judge.

The court is staffed with two deputy clerks, a court administrator, a senior court coordinator, a warrant collection clerk, a teen court coordinator, and two city marshals. Clerks are not licensed attorneys and cannot provide legal advice.

Visa and MasterCard can be accepted for the payment of Municipal Court fines.

	The initiative’s goal is to reduce deaths and injuries caused when motorists run red lights. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, nearly 2 million crashes occur in intersections each year. In 2005, red light running resulted in 800 fatalities and more than 165,000 injuries. Learn more about the program here.
