Communications dispatches all Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services in the city using computer-aided dispatching. The City of Burleson is in the Tarrant County 9-1-1 district and has the enhanced 9-1-1 System. Communications is staffed with one Communications Supervisor, one Lead Telecommunications Operator, and nine Telecommunications Operators

The Communications Section is responsible for, but not limited to:

Answering and handling all emergency and non-emergency requests for Police, Fire, and EMS services via enhanced 911, telephone, teletype, TDD, radio, and walk-ins; and dispatching uniform services when necessary. Entry and documentation of all call for service requests and information into CAD system. Monitors and maintains status of assigned public safety personnel. Inquires, receives, interprets, verifies, and disseminates information from national, state, and local law enforcement computer networks Handling, preparing, and maintaining various records, paperwork, and reports. Monitoring of prisoners and police facility thru video/audio monitors. Activation of civil defense equipment as a warning to citizens at the direction of the Fire Marshall or the Officer in Charge.
