In order to maintain the Burleson Police Department's high level of integrity and discipline, matters pertaining to internal affairs are investigated within the agency. The Burleson Police Department
has information available to the public regarding how to register a complaint against the agency or its employees.
Commander Cindy Aaron acts as the Internal Affairs Coordinator, overseeing all internal affairs operations. Officers within the Community Services Section who have received appropriate training may be assigned to the internal affairs section as part of their duties.
The Burleson Police Department does not tolerate racial profiling. Any complaints of racial profiling should be directed to the Internal Affairs division.

2007 Internal Affairs Investigations Annual Summary
During calendar year 2007 the Burleson Police Department received eight Administrative Complaints on employees. This was an increase of two, or 33%, from calendar year 2006. There were two Internal Affairs Complaints, an increase of one, or 50%, from the previous year.
Two of the complaints involved allegations of excessive use of force. After investigation, these two complaints were unfounded. There were three complaints of rudeness/improper conduct, one complaint of physical and mental abuse, one complaint of inappropriate language and one of illegal search. A total of five Administrative Complaints were unfounded, or 63%. Of the three complaints sustained, employees received disciplinary action. One Internal Affairs investigation rendered the employee exonerated/proper conduct. The additional Internal Affairs investigation was sustained and the employee disciplined.
2008 Internal Affairs Investigations Annual Summary
During calendar year 2008 the Burleson Police Department received six Administrative Complaints on employees. This was a decrease of 25% from calendar year 2007. There was one Internal Affairs complaint received which was a decrease of 50% from the previous year.
Three of the Administrative Complaints were for improper conduct, one for rudeness, one for harassment and one complaint of unlawful detention. Three, or 50%, of these complaints were unfounded upon the conclusion of investigations. Of the three complaints that were sustained the employees involved received disciplinary action. The one Internal Affairs investigation was sustained and the employee received disciplinary action.
