Council Places 1, 3 and 5 will be up for election this year. These are two year terms.

Place 3	Matt Powell Mike Cummings
Place 5	Dan McClendon Tom French

Gillaspie was elected to his seat in 1999. Powell was appointed to his seat in June 2004 (to fill the unexpired term of Ken Shetter) then won the subsequent elections. McClendon won his seat in May 2007.

Running against Gillaspie for Place 1 councilmember is Garry T. Scott. In Place 3, incumbent Matt Powell is being challenged by Mike Cummings. The Place 5 seat is also a two man race between incumbent Dan McClendon and Tom French.

In order to vote in the City of Burleson general election being held on May 9, you must be registered to vote by Thursday, April 9. Voter registration forms are available at the Burleson Public Library, Burleson City Hall, and the Sub-Courthouse.

Election day voting will take place at Burleson City Hall, 141 West Renfro Street, Burleson, Texas.
