City Secretary's Office
The City Secretary is an officer of the City, appointed by the City Council. The position of City Secretary is a statutory position required by State law and the City Charter.
In addition to the statutory duties of the position, the City Secretary serves as Records Management Officer and the Election Administrator.
City Secretary Services
The City Secretary attends every meeting of the City Council and keeps accurate minutes of the proceedings, engrossing and enrolling all laws, ordinances and resolutions of the City Council.
The City Secretary serves as the Chief Election Official for the City of Burleson, responsible for the administration of the City’s General Elections.
The City Secretary's Office is responsible for the issuance of certain permits and licenses for various operations within the City of Burleson, including alcoholic beverage licenses, amusement center, bingo, and taxi permits. |

The City Secretary serves as custodian of the City corporate seal and attests the Mayor's signature on all official documents; records and files deeds and easements; maintains cemetery records; coordinates the codification of City ordinances into the City Code of Ordinances; publishes all legal ads and notices for the City; maintains all board and committee meeting minutes; posts all legal notices and agendas; and serves as Parliamentarian for the City Council..
City Council Services Office
The Deputy City Secretary serves as the main point of contact for staff and citizens to the Council. This includes handling all proclamation requests, special events or appearances, city hall tours and all meeting requests.
