In April, 1999 Burleson, Texas was introduced to the Character First^® program. Burleson became a City of Character through a unique, joint resolution between:

• the City of Burleson
• the Burleson Independent School District
• the Ministerial Alliance, and
• the Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce

 

Each of these entities provides CharacterFirst^® information and instruction to its employees and customers, and shares in the responsibilities of raising community awareness about the program.

Burleson was honored with the 2001 Paul Geisel Community of Year Award, presented by the Southest Metroplex Alliance, for its Character Program.

Numerous international visitors have come to Burleson to seek advice on implementing the Character First^® program in their communities.

 

A reception for the delegation from Mongolia was held at Huguley Hospital.

 

 

 

 

City officials from Manningham, Australia visited Burleson and were greeted at a reception in City Hall by then City Manager Bill Davison.
