Weeds & High Grass

Weeds and grass over 12" in height are in violation of the City of Burleson Weed Ordinance. Property owners and tenants are responsible for keeping their yards mowed to the roadway. Failure to do so may result in citations and/or liens being filed on the property should the City hire a contract mower to have the work performed. If a lien is filed against your property, contact the records department at 817-426-9660 to obtain the amount due.

Overflowing Dumpsters

Overflowing dumpsters can create an unsightly and unsanitary nuisance for neighbors and adjoining businesses. Dumpsters must have operable lids which remain shut except during the loading and unloading of dumpsters. Arrangements may need to be made for additional and/or larger dumpsters if overfilling becomes a problem.

Junk Vehicles

A junk vehicle is a motor vehicle that

(a) does not have lawfully attached to it:

(1) an unexpired license plate; or
(2) a valid motor vehicle inspection certificate; and

(b) is:

(1) wrecked, dismantled or partially dismantled, or discarded; or
(2) inoperable and has remained inoperable for more than:

(i) 72 consecutive hours, if the vehicle is on public property; or
(ii) 30 consecutive days, if the vehicle is on private property.

A citation may be issued or the vehicle may be towed and crushed after a 10 day notice has been issued.

Unclean Premisesjunk

Any property, public or private, should be kept free of unsightly accumulation of litter, garbage and/or junk which may become unsanitary or offensive. This includes but is not limited to tires, batteries, limbs and brush, etc.

.

Illegal Signs

No signs of any type (with the exception of warning or construction signs) may be posted on any utility pole or in any public street right-of-ways. Certain signs require a permit. A copy of the sign ordinance can be viewed at City Hall, 141 W. Renfro.
