Local Ordinances
There are primarily three ordinances that directly regulate building construction in the City of Burleson. They are as follows:
B-582; Zoning: This ordinance regulates property use. It establishes setback standards, parking requirements, sign standards, and landscape design criteria. It also establishes procedures for the submission and review of commercial site plans.
B-622; Subdivision & Development: This ordinance largely deals with issues related to platting and property subdivision. Certain projects will require the extension of streets, or utilities. This ordinance also establishes regulations to govern the construction of public infrastructure.
B-432; Flood Damage Prevention: Certain portions of the City lie within the 100 year flood plain (as designated by the Flood Insurance Rate Map published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency). This ordinance, in accordance with Federal requirements and guidelines, regulates construction within the Flood plain.
The Standard Specifications For Public Works Construction: These standards, which are published by the North Central Texas Council of Governments, have been adopted by the City of Burleson. They establish the construction methods and materials to be used in the construction of public infrastructure.
