Adopt-A-Street is a partnership between the City of Burleson, Keep Burleson Beautiful, Inc., and Burleson residents, businesses, schools, churches, and civic groups.  Each participant/group will adopt a ½ mile or longer section of street in the City of Burleson and remove litter from it at least 2 times per year for two years.  The City will provide organizational help, cleaning supplies, and free disposal of trash.  If possible, an Adopt-A-Street sign bearing the name of participating group will be posted.

• Clean streets encourage neighborhood pride and increase property values.
• It helps reduce the overall costs of litter removal.
• People litter less in clean neighborhoods.
• It allows City maintenance crews to perform other tasks, broadening the area of the city being kept clean.
• Cleaning litter off the streets prevents the litter from blowing into the waterways, which can harm the environment and damage drinking water supplies.
• Cleaning neighborhoods can help teach the youth of Burleson community responsibility and respect for the environment.     

APPLICATION FOR ADOPT-A-STREET

The City of Burleson environmental services division, along with the street department, will work with the adopting participant to determine the specific section of roadway to be adopted.  Such factors as width of right-of-way, geometrics, congestion and reduced sight distance may be considered by the City in determining what street shall be eligible for adoption.  For questions, please call 817-426-9842 or e-mail bchafin@burlesontx.com.
