What do you do with your old computer?
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality now requires computer manufacturers to offer a recycling program – free of charge – to collect and recycle consumers’ used computer equipment. Visit http://www.tceq.state.tx.us/assistance/P2Recycle/electronics/manufacturer-list.html for more information and links to individual companies.
The Goodwill store on Hwy. 174 in Burleson will accept all electronics, including computers, monitors, accessories, video games, TVs, and radios.
What do you do with your old TV?
If you bought a new TV in anticipation of the switch from analog to digital signals by all TV stations, what do you do with that old TV that couldn’t keep up with technology?
If you still have that defunct TV, you can recycle it, put it at the curb, or take it to Goodwill.
You can find a list of electronic recyclers on the Texas Commission on Environmental Equality (TCEQ) web site at http://www.tceq.state.tx.us/assistance/P2Recycle/electronics/HouseRegs.htmlor on the National Center for Electronic Recycling web site at http://www.electronicsrecycling.net/Public/default.aspx#.
The Goodwill store on Hwy. 174 in Burleson will accept all electronics, including computers, monitors, accessories, video games, TVs, and radios. Also, check with Best Buy. The electronics store accepts most consumer electronics but may charge a recycling fee for TVs and computers.
If you don’t want to recycle your old TV, you can put it at the curb for solid waste pickup. Or, instead of buying a new TV, just get a convertor box that changes the analog signal to a digital signal. For more information on how to get a convertor box, log on to www.dtv.gov.
