| The Information Technology Department is responsible for planning, purchasing, maintaining, and supporting the city's wide area network including servers, routers, switches, WAN fiber and wireless connnections, midrange systems and terminals, HTE management software, data storage and backup systems, desktop and laptop computers with related peripherals (printers, scanners, digital camers, monitors, etc.), internet services, phone systems (wireless and land based), and pagers.
This department also provides management coordination with other departments of electronic mapping and databases associated with the city's Geographic Information System (GIS). This GIS support includes developing master conversion plans, managing integration of the GIS with other systems, license management, analysis and evaluation of interrelated third party software, server maintenance, and policy and program development. |
