Disposable, weatherproof garbage bags are required for pickup. Bags cannot be placed in containers. It is a violation of city ordinances to place garbage on the curb more than 12 hours in advance of the regular collection day. The Utility Customer Service Department will provide information on the collection days for your residence or you can view the Garbage Collection Days map. (PDF format)

On the following city holidays, solid waste will not be collected:

New Year's Day

Memorial Day

Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day

Curbside Recycling

Curbside recycling service is available to Burleson residents. Community Waste Disposal collects recyclable items one day each week (excluding holidays). Go to the Curbside Recycling page to read more about this service.

IESI TruckTrash has become as simple as ABC.

  1. Special Trash Pick Up Items -  These items include, but are not limited to, mattresses, furniture, carpet (cut into 4-foot rolls), appliances that do not contain Freon, large toys, lawn mowers/weed eater/edgers that have had the gasoline and oil drained, outdoor grills without the propane tank, and other large bulk items.
  2. Limbs, brush, lumber, wood – All “B” items should be cut into 6-foot lengths or shorter and stacked at the curb.
  3. Yard Waste in Paper Lawn Bags – Crews will only collect yard waste in paper lawn bags. These bags are available at most grocery stores and home and garden centers.  Yard waste in plastic bags can be taken to the compost center and emptied out by the resident.
  • All ABC items listed above are scheduled to be picked up the same week, according to your zone area.
  • Place all ABC items to your curb by 7 a.m. on the Monday of your zone pickup week.
  • Please do not set your items at the curb prior to the weekend before your scheduled pickup.
  • Please group “A” items separate from “B” & “C” items, as this will expedite the collection process in your zone.
  • You no longer need to call in to request pick up for any of these items.
  • Crews will work throughout the week getting these items collected. Your items may be picked up at different times, and by different vehicles, since some items will go to the compost center and some to the landfill.
  • Residents will now be able to schedule their limb and brush trimming to coincide with their zone pickup week, which in turn should help eliminate having limbs and brush on your curb for a lengthy period of time.
  • If any of the items you place on the curb by 7 a.m. on the Monday of your zone pickup week have not been picked up by Friday, please call 817-426-9830, ext. 0, and let us know.

Zone 1 – Please have all of your A, B and C items out to the curb by 7:00 AM the first Monday of every month.  Crews will work throughout the week clearing your zone of all the items.  Your items may not all be picked up at the same time or by the same vehicle, depending on the items, some will go to the land fill and others may go to the compost center.

Zone 2 – Please have all of your A, B and C items out to the curb by 7:00 AM the second Monday of every month.  Crews will work throughout the week clearing your zone of all the items.  Your items may not all be picked up at the same time or by the same vehicle, depending on the items, some will go to the land fill and others may go to the compost center.

Zone 3 – Please have all of your A, B and C items out to the curb by 7:00 AM the third Monday of every month.  Crews will work throughout the week clearing your zone of all the items.  Your items may not all be picked up at the same time or by the same vehicle, depending on the items, some will go to the land fill and others may go to the compost center.

Zone 4 – Please have all of your A, B and C items out to the curb by 7:00 AM the fourth Monday of every month.  Crews will work throughout the week clearing your zone of all the items.  Your items may not all be picked up at the same time or by the same vehicle, depending on the items, some will go to the land fill and others may go to the compost center.

To verify which zone you are in, please refer to the brochure provided by the city and Community Waste Disposal (CWD) or click on the “specials by zone” link on this web site.  Or, you may call the Municipal Service Center at 817-426-9830.  Brochures are also available at Burleson City Hall on Renfro Street (faces Ellison Street) and the Municipal Service Center on John Jones (FM 731 South).

Helpful Information:

Boxes – Boxes need to be broken down and either stacked under your recycle bin or under your regular household garbage bags.  If you have moving boxes, you can place the broken-down boxes into other boxes for easier handling, but please remove all packing materials and place in trash bags or in the recycle bin, depending on the type of material.

Compost CenterThe city’s compost/ mulch center is located at 620 Memorial Plaza, next tomulch Fire Station # 2, and is open Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  During operating hours, Burleson residents are always welcome to take B & C items and drop them off.  Cans, boxes, plastic bags, etc, may be used to bring items to the compost center, but containers must be emptied and disposed of by the resident.

Free mulch is also available for Burleson residents, upon request, on those days.

Don’t Bag It – Citizens are encouraged to follow the Don’t Bag It Lawn Care and Leaf Management Plans in order to save time, energy and money.  Printed materials outlining these plans may be obtained at Burleson City Hall or at the Municipal Service Center.

Items that crews cannot collect – include, but are not limited to, automotive parts, roofing materials, shingles, building materials, concrete, brick, rock, dirt, yard waste in plastic bags, railroad ties, treated lumber, paint, oil or other hazardous material, and appliances that have not had the Freon removed.

Recycle CenterLocated at 124 S.W. Haskew St., the center is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 12 noon.  This is a drop-off site for dry newspaper including slicks/ads, phone books, catalogues, magazines, writing paper, mail, cardboard, unbroken glass bottles and jars, tin cans, aluminum cans, empty aerosol cans, and plastics labeled 1-5 and 7.

Items that cannot be dropped off are styrofoam cups and to-go containers, lids, caps, sprayers, aluminum foil and pie plates, wet or yellowed newspaper, books, cookware, ceramics, utensils, cups, dishes, glasses, light bulbs, window glass, toys and batteries.

Yellow Tags – Yellow tags are used by the solid waste department to notify residents as to the reason why crews were unable to collect certain item(s).
