Assessors representing the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies is coming to town as the Burleson Police Department vies for its seventh reaccreditation. Burleson was the first department in Texas to be accredited by CALEA in 1987.

Commander Chris Havens accepted the Ofelia Blair Outstanding Character Award at the police banquet. Blair, former clerk for the criminal investigations section, lost her battle to cancer in 2003. Havens was the sergeant over CIS at the time.
