As a component of this comprehensive plan update City officials identified the State Highway 174 corridor as a high priority item for study and planning. This corridor plan is intended to supplement the Imagine Burleson Comprehensive Plan.

State Highway 174 – Corridor Plan

“Imagine Burleson: Roadmap to 2030” is a coordinated effort of citizens, decision-makers, City staff, and members of the community who hold this town close to their heart and choose to live or earn a living here. Imagine Burleson analyzes the issues presented by the current conditions to develop a vision for the future of Burleson and designs the pathway to achieve that desired future. This plan is intended to be a dynamic, adaptable guide to help decision-makers, citizens, staff, and other stakeholders shape Burleson’s future on a continual and proactive basis.

The shared vision which is the basis of “Imagine Burleson: Roadmap to 2030” was the culmination of a nine-month long public involvement process which started in January 2009. Hundreds of Burleson residents and business owners contributed their time and ideas. Some attended stakeholder presentations given by staff over a four-month period at 14 service clubs, various City boards and commission meetings, and at chamber of commerce events. Others participated in interactive workshops at five town hall meetings. The common themes that emerged from these meetings were presented to the 14-member Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee. This committee (comprised of the Planning and Zoning commissioners and city council members) helped shape these common themes for the creation of this vision.

The public hearing for the comprehensive plan and SH 174 corridor plan will take place Monday, April 5, at Burleson City Hall. The city council will vote on these two documents on April 5, after the public hearing.
