Development Agreements

On March 21, 2016, the City Council approved a resolution to begin the process of annexation. Texas Local Government Code Chapter 43 and Chapter 212 requires cities to offer development agreements to properties that qualify under these codes prior to instituting annexation proceedings.

Development agreements are essentially “delayed annexation” agreements in which a property owner can choose to delay annexation and Burleson property taxes for an agreed upon number of years, unless the owner subdivides or otherwise changes the use of the property.

Proposed Areas
The areas proposed for annexation are primarily located near and/or along the Chisholm Trail Parkway and Interstate 35W. Please check out the links below if you would like to view the map of these proposed annexation areas.
