Summercrest to McAlister Bicycle & Pedestrian Improvements

Summercrest to McAlister map
Location:  7.2 miles of a combination of off-street trail and bile lane/shared bike route improvements from Summercrest Blvd to McAlister Road.

Purpose: To provide a safe bicycling and walking route for citizens that ties to several key locations including the Burleson Recreation Center, 5 schools and 3 parks.

End Result:
The project includes:
* Buffered bike lanes on Summercrest Blvd, Thomas Street and McAlister Road
* Sidepath section in front of the Burleson Recreation Center
* Trail through the BRiCk to Thomas Street and along the Oncor easement between McAlister Road and James Circle
*Shared bike lanes on Rand Court, Newton Drive, Cindy Lane, Douglas Street and McAlister Road
Project Cost: Estimated $1.78 million
Funding Source: 
$1.022M through the 2013 Transportation Enhancement Project Federal Funding, the remainder through general and bond funding by the City.

Project substantially complete in December 2017 and open to the public.
