Mobile Command Unit

Funding
The City of Burleson unveiled its new mobile command unit in January of 2005. In 2003, the City of Burleson was awarded a $455,374 State Homeland Security Grant by the Department of Homeland Security thanks to a grant written by Fire Marshal Stacy Singleton. The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) serves as the local grant administrator.

The grant was awarded for the purchase of a mobile command unit. The command vehicle serves public safety and emergency operation needs in the southern and southwestern portions of the 16-county region served by the NCTCOG.

A significant portion of the nation’s homeland security efforts are carried out at the local, regional, and state levels. The command vehicle enables Burleson and the NCTCOG region to play a significant role in those endeavors.
