Join Us!

The Mayor's Youth Council is the connection between the City Council and youth of Burleson. Everyone is invited to join us at the monthly Mayor's Youth Council meeting. If you would like to join us as a voting member, you will need to follow the 4-part process outlined below.

Eligible Youth Council Members are:
  • 13-19 years of age (at start of term June 1)
  • Reside in Burleson or the ETJ (extra-territorial jurisdiction)
  • Have a passion to be the voice of Burleson youth, and
  • Show leadership qualities within the community

Nomination Process

1. Be Nominated: Get nominated by an adult. Any adult may nominate a student who they feel will be an asset to the Mayor's Youth Council by filling out the Nomination Form. (Adult Nominations of Youth are ongoing, but in order for youth to be considered for appointment June 1, 2020, nominations must be received no later than May 25, 2020 by 5:00 p.m.)

2. Apply: Submit your MYC Application. Each nominated youth must fill out a MYC Application to continue in the process. (MYC Applications are ongoing, but in order for youth to be considered for appointment June 1, 2020, questionnaires must be received no later than May 25, 2020 by 5:00 p.m.)

3. Interview: After nominations and applications have been reviewed, you may be asked to come in for a brief interview. The final list of recommendations will be made after all interviews have been completed.

4. Be Appointed: Recommendations will be sent to the City Council for official appointment. All new members will be required to attend the City Council meeting on Monday, June 1, 2020
You will be notified of your membership via email prior to June 1, 2020.

Adult Voting Members

The Mayor's Youth Council allows for 3 adult voting positions. If you are interested in serving as an Adult Voting Member of the Mayor's Youth Council, please fill-out the Adult Voting Member Application. (Adult Voting Member Applications are accepted on an on-going basis)
