The City of Burleson will hold an election on May 6, 2017 for City Council Places 2, 4, 6 and Mayor. The places will be on the ballot for 3-year terms.

Runoff Election Day: June 17, 2017


The City of Burleson will hold a runoff election on June 17, 2017 for City Council Place 4 for a full 3-year term.

Online Candidate Packets (PDF) available from January 1 - February 17, 2017 for the City of Burleson 2017 General Election.

Candidate Packets are also available by personal appearance during normal business hours (Monday- Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) at the City Secretary's Office (City Hall - 141 W Renfro Street) and at the City Council Meetings (Council Chambers 141 W Renfro).

Applications for a Place on the Ballot will be accepted from January 18, 2017 (8 a.m.) - February 17, 2017 (5 p.m.).

Qualifications for Candidacy

Candidates running for Burleson City Council must affirm that they are:
  • At least 18 years of as of the date of application
  • A citizen of the United States of America
  • A qualified voter of the city (which in the charter shall mean a person who is registered to vote by the State of Texas, whose registration is effective in the City of Burleson)
  • A resident of the city and have resided in the city for at least one year immediately preceding the date of the election
  • Not delinquent in the payment of taxes due to the city
  • Not otherwise disqualified from serving on the city council by any other provision of law
