Finance Department releases Citizens' Annual Financial Report

For less than the cost of a daily skinny mocha latte, Burleson residents receive police and fire protection, streets and water service, outstanding parks, library services and much more.

The City of Burleson’s Citizens’ Annual Financial Report shows the community exactly how their tax dollars were spent last year. This report is the city’s version of a corporate annual report that discusses revenue and expenditures, condensed to a few pages that include fun facts about HighPoint Business Park, public safety initiatives and other financial information.

“This report highlights much more than the city’s finances,” said Burleson city manager, Dale Cheatham. “It also tells the story of our city and what makes it a great place to live, work and play.”

While the city’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is the ultimate in financial disclosure, the goal of the Citizens’ Financial Report is to put easy to understand financial information into the hands of every citizen.

“The Citizens' Financial Report takes information from the CAFR and condenses it to give citizens an overview of the city’s finances,” said Rhett Clark, finance director. “For anyone that wants a deeper understanding of the city’s budget the CAFR is available on the city’s website or you can contact the finance department directly.”
