Two great ways to get involved in the city's public safety programs

AltTextAltTextTwo great public safety programs are getting ready to start.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is offered through the fire marshal's department. The CERT Program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergencies in their community during times of disaster.

CERT will be hosting meet-and-greet at 7 p.m. April 27 at Fire Station 1 for those who want to learn more about the program. Classes start May 9, more information and application

Citizens Police Academy (CPA) is a program with the police department that provides a bridge between the officer in the car and the citizens in the field.

Citizens will gain an appreciation of problems and challenges facing law enforcement and then they become the police department's "goodwill ambassadors" in the community. For more information or call Tiffany Bauereisen, (817) 426-9983.
