The city celebrated the grand opening of the improvements at Bailey Park with a ribbon cutting Thursday, June 15 with Jim and Betty Bailey, their family and the public. Mr. and Mrs. Bailey have both been active members of our community for the last several decades.
Mr. Bailey served on the Burleson City Council for eighteen years, and in 2006 this park was named in honor of him. Mr. Bailey was instrumental in the progress of Hidden Creek Parkway, the revitalization of Old Town, the preservation of Burleson’s heritage and many other great aspects of our city.
New improvements to the eight-acre lake and picnic area include 20 additional parking spaces, a restroom/pavilion, a fishing pier, 10-foot concrete trail along the east side of the lake continuing north to Tinker Trail, plus other amenities including picnic tables and trash cans.
The city recently completed the $1.3 million dollar renovations to the park after 11 months of construction.
