Get on Board: City looks to fill vacant board and commission seats

The city is accepting applications until Aug. 7 for vacant seats on the Building Codes and Standards Board, Cemetery Board, Library Board, Planning and Zoning Commission, Park Board, Old Town Development Standards Review Committee and the Zoning Board of Adjustment.

There are currently three positions open on the Building Codes and Standards Board. Place 7 requires applicants to be a licensed heat and air conditioning (HVAC). Places 8 & 9 are alternate positions that require the applicant to be a licensed plumber, electrician or have a HVAC license.

 

The Cemetery Board open seat is for the youth member position, applicants must be 13-17 years-old and reside within the city limits of Burleson.

The Library Board has Place 2 position open which for a youth member, applicants must be 13-17 years-old and reside within the city limits of Burleson.

Place 2 on the Old Town Development Standards Review Committee is currently vacant and is a youth member seat. Applicants must be 13 – 17 years-old and reside within the city limits. Place 3 and 5 are vacant and require the applicant to either be a resident of Burleson or to own a business in Old Town.

The Park Board is looking to fill Place 1, all applicants must reside within the city limits.

The Planning and Zoning Commission is looking to fill Place 7, all applicants must reside within the city limits.

The Zoning Board of Adjustment has one vacant seat, Place 5, applicants must reside within the city limits.

All open seats will serve for a two-year term, from Oct. 1, 2017 through Sept. 30, 2019.

Board and Commission members are appointed by City Council. The open positions are expected to be appointed in September.
