Get on Board: City looks to fill vacant board and commission seats

The city is accepting applications until Aug. 15 for vacant seats on the on the Building Codes and Standards Board, Library Board and Park Board.

There are currently three positions open on the Building Codes and Standards Board. Place 7 requires applicants to be a licensed heat and air conditioning (HVAC). Places 8 & 9 are alternate positions that require the applicant to be a licensed plumber, electrician or have a HVAC license.

All Building Codes and Standards Board members must reside in the city or own or be employed by a business located in the City and hold an applicable license. Place 7 and Place 9 are filling unexpired terms so they will serve from Oct. 1, 2018 through Sept. 20, 2019. Place 8 is an open seat and will serve for a two-year term, from Oct. 1, 2018 through Sept. 30, 2020.

The Library Board has Place 1 and Place 4. Each board or commission member shall have resided within the corporate limits of the city for a period of one year preceding the effective date of his/her appointment. Place 1 is filling an unexpired term, so this seat will serve from Oct. 1, 2018 through Sept. 20, 2019. Place 4 is an open seat and will serve for a two-year term, from Oct. 1, 2018 through Sept. 30, 2020.

The Park Board is looking to fill Place 4, all applicants shall have resided within the corporate limits of the city for a period of one year preceding the effective date of his/her appointment. This open seat will serve for a two-year term, from Oct. 1, 2018 through Sept. 30, 2019.

Board and Commission members are appointed by City Council. The open positions are expected to be appointed in September.
