The Burleson Fire Department is starting a free program that invites the public to work out with them. Anyone interested can work out like a firefighter from 7 - 8 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays at Fire Station 1, 828 SW Alsbury, September 25 - November 3.
Burleson firefighters will teach the public what it takes to be a firefighter through a variety of workouts that show the strength needed to do their jobs. Participants will complete exercises that directly simulate a fire ground like throwing ladders, bucket carry, dummy drag and dragging fire hose. These exercises along with other components necessary to being successful during fire rescues such as cardio, core strength and upper body workouts will help participants not only get fit but get fit like a firefighter.
There is no cost to the program, and you can sign up for one or all the sessions online.
