Rodney Schlotzhauer, the City of Burleson’s Employee of the Quarter, approaches each day with a grateful heart and joyful attitude. You can often see Rodney walking through the halls of city facilities, checking on employees and making sure that they have everything they need to do their jobs.
“Rodney comes by our department every morning to check on us,” his nomination form states. “He makes sure that we have the supplies we need without having to ask him for them. He just remembers and brings them to us.”
Rodney takes extreme pride in his job and serving the employees of Burleson.
“Recently we asked Rodney what he could do regulate the temperature in our office,” said Brandi Rendon, Utility Customer Service Manager. “Less than a week later he had ordered and installed a sensor that corrected the issue.”
Noted in his nomination form is his dedication to quality customer service, his follow through on projects and his character.
“Not only is Rodney excellent at his job, but his character stands out from the crowd,” said Wanda Bullard, Human Resources Director.
That character is reflected as he takes time to check on how employees are doing personally, to ask them about their family and to sincerely thank employees for what they do to make the city better.
“Rodney doesn’t complain, but seeks the positive in all situations and communicates that out to others,” stated Bullard.
Rodney began his career with the City of Burleson in 1999 in the facilities maintenance division. In 2002, Rodney received Employee of the Year. “It speaks volumes that 17 years later, Rodney is still demonstrating a high level of service to our city and staff,” said Bullard.
Rodney was honored at the April 15 City Council meeting. The city's employee of the quarter award is based on an employee's efficiency, transparency, honesty, innovation and customer service, all of which make up the city's ethics statement.
