Burleson Fire Department and Texas Health Burleson have teamed up to host, Super Safety Saturday, an event for the entire community from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18. The free event will be held at Texas Health Burleson, 2750 SW Wilshire Blvd.
The fun will include a CareFlite helicopter (from 10 – 11 a.m.), MedStar ground ambulance, Johnson County Game Warden, tours of the fire trucks and the fire safety trailer. Participants will learn pool and sun safety education, how to perform hands-only CPR, how to size and fit a life jacket, bike safety, fire safety, car seat safety and drowning prevention. At 11 a.m. Shanon Murphy, aka Psycho Shanon from the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show, will be on-hand to share her nephew’s drowning story and to discuss the importance of water safety.
Certified swim instructors will be on hand to perform free swim evaluations for children. Registration is required, please call 1-877-THR-WELL (1-877-847-9355) to secure your child a 15-minute swim evaluation. Participants of the swim evaluations will need to bring a swimsuit, towel and floatation device.
Cook Children’s will be performing free car seat checks, but you must register before the event at 682-885-2634. Space is limited, so register now.
There will be free bounce houses, face painting and a fun photo booth.
The event will also feature a limited supply of free bike helmets for children through Texas Medical Association’s Hard Hats for Little Heads program. Hard Hats for Little Heads is supported in 2019 with a TMA Foundation grant thanks to its Legacy of Caring and General Endowments, and generous gifts from an anonymous physician and spouse and donors to TMAF’s Make-A-Difference and Greatest Need appeals..
There will also be free giveaways to participants who check in at the event with the hashtag, #SuperSafetySaturday2019.
