Mayor Shetter presents ‘State of the City’

Mayor Ken Shetter, along with assistance from Burleson city councilmembers, presented the ’State of the City’ at the Burleson Area Greater Chamber of Commerce’s Winter Quarterly Meeting, Thur. Jan. 16 and at CityFest, Wed. Jan. 29.

Mayor Shetter highlighted the ways Burleson is working to maintain the city’s hometown-feel while providing residents with safe neighborhoods, sound infrastructure and meeting the demands of growth.

“I’m proud to report that our economic outlook is strong, opportunities abound,” stated Mayor Shetter. “We are doing more than ever to protect life safety, our infrastructure is sound and we are working hard to meet the demands of the growth we know will continue.”

Mayor Shetter’s presentation highlighted how the City of Burleson’s core values will ensure Burleson continues to be a place where people and businesses choose to call home for generations to come. The values include:

  • Economic and environmental sustainability, accountability and transparency;
  • A mobility system that is efficient, connected, attractive and safe;
  • Neighborhoods that are safe, friendly, connected and vibrant;
  • Parks that give people the opportunity to play, learn, exercise, and experience the outdoors;
  • Great places to gather throughout our city; and
  • Economic development that creates opportunity, diversifies the tax base and provides our resident’s choices.

"Thank you to everyone who chooses Burleson as the place to make their home or to do business,” said Mayor Shetter. “Know that we are dedicated to continuing to make our city a great place to call home. More than that, know you are right where you belong.”
