    The Greater Johnson County Transportation Coalition (GJCTC) will host its next General Meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 26. The meeting will bring together legislators, local elected officials, transportation partners, business leaders and the public to discuss automated vehicle technology, the impact of that technology on the region and focus on some steps this region can take to prepare for the advent of automated vehicles. This meeting is hosted by the Greater Johnson County Transportation Coalition

  2. Public Meeting: Johnson Ave water line renewal project

    April 27, 2017, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Library

    The City has prepared a construction project to replace the existing water main in Johnson Avenue including service lines to the water meters. The proposed work on Johnson will be from Gardens Avenue to SW Ellison Street. The new water line will be located within the existing pavement on the Kerr Middle School side of the street. For most of the project, two lanes of traffic will be maintained (one lane in each direction). There will be times when short detours become necessary. Water service will be maintained at all times throughout the duration of the project. Work is anticipated to begin in early summer 2017 and last into spring of 2018. Exhibits of the proposed construction will be available and City staff will be present to answer questions at the public meeting.     The Burleson Animal Shelter and Lost Oak Winery are teaming up for another Yappy Hour on Friday, April 28, 2017, 7 p.m.-10 p.m., at the winery. Shelter staff will bring adoptable pets to Yappy Hour for on-site adoptions.

  5. Trash Bash

    April 29, 2017, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Warren Park

    You can make a difference, and have a lot of fun doing it. Find your boots, round up your friends, and sign up for the City’s semiannual Burleson Trash Bash slated for Saturday, April 29. It is a commitment of two hours, 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Volunteers of all ages meet at Warren Park at 9 a.m. to get their trash bags and litter picker uppers. Then they head out to remove litter and debris from retail corridors, waterways, drainage channels, streets, parks, and other public areas. Youth participants are enthusiastically welcomed but must have adult supervision. Read through the volunteer packet on the City website,, then you can sign your group up online at, or call David Lenartowicz, the City’s environmental specialist, at 817-426-9842 for more details. You must call by 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, to receive a cleanup location assignment. Come out, enjoy the camaraderie, and leave knowing you have made a difference!

  6. National Pharmaceutical Take Back Initiative

    The Burleson Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The event will be hosted at the Burleson Police Department, 1161 S.W. Wilshire Blvd. and Texas Health Huguley Hospital, 11801 South Freeway. Residents may drop off unused, expired or unwanted medications, in both pill and liquid form, for safe disposal. This includes over-the-counter as well as prescription drugs. The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. If you can't make the event there is a drug drop box located in the lobby of the Police Administration building, 1161 SW Wilshire Blvd. The box is available to the public Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
