With the newly opened expansion of the Burleson Memorial Cemetery, the city is working to develop fees associated with the new features being offered. The expansion opened on May 23 and has over 1,200 new burial spaces including 300 cremation spaces and two columbaria with 128 cremation niches. Parks and recreation and legal staff have been working with Lucas and Blessing to develop proposed fees. The Cemetery Board considered the fees at their May 17 board meeting and, during their June 21 meeting, made a formal recommendation to city council. City council will consider the new fees associated with the cemetery during their August 7, 2023, meeting.
