[ARCHIVED] Active Investigation

Active Investigation

On Tuesday, October 14, officers responded to a welfare check at 433 White Oak Lane for 26-year-old Jonathan Kinman. Kinman, who had special needs, lived at the residence with his mother, December Marie Mitchell, and stepfather, Jonathan James Mitchell.

During the welfare check, information was shared indicating that Kinman might be deceased and possibly buried in the backyard of the residence. Both parents were subsequently arrested on charges of Tampering/Fabricating Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair a Human Corpse. They were transported to the Johnson County Jail, where each is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.

The following morning, Wednesday, October 15, Burleson Police, along with assistance from the Texas Rangers, located a shallow grave in the backyard. Kinman’s body was exhumed and transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy was conducted on Thursday, October 16. The autopsy results are still pending, and a cause of death has not yet been determined.
