[ARCHIVED] Implementation of Annual Fire Life Safety Inspection Fee for Businesses Begins January 1, 2026

To ensure consistent, uninterrupted fire safety inspections and strengthen fire prevention efforts citywide, the city of Burleson will begin implementing an annual Fire Life Safety Inspection fee for commercial businesses starting January 1, 2026.

The fee will support a dedicated fire inspector focused solely on conducting required annual Life Safety Inspections for Burleson businesses. Currently, these inspections are performed by on-shift firefighters, who must pause inspections to respond to emergency calls. This can result in delays and inefficiencies for business owners.

“As Burleson continues to grow, so do the demands on our public safety services,” said Fire Chief Casey Davis. “This change allows firefighters to remain available for emergency response while providing businesses with more consistent, efficient inspections and enhanced customer service.”

The inspection fee structure is legally authorized under local and state regulations and was approved by the Burleson City Council. Fees will be assessed after the required Life Safety Inspection is completed and are based on building size:

  • 6,000 square feet and under: $50
  • 6,001–25,000 square feet: $75
  • 25,001–50,000 square feet: $100
  • 50,001 square feet and above: $200

Following the inspection, businesses will receive an invoice by email. Inspection reports will be released once payment is received.

Payments can be made online through the City’s eTRAKiT system at www.etrakit.burlesontx.com, or in person at City Building Permits & Inspections, located at 135 W. Ellison St., Suite 109. Assistance is available by phone at 817-426-9632.

The Burleson Fire Department emphasizes that Life Safety Inspections will continue as required and conducted as usual, with the new fee structure ensuring greater reliability and efficiency in service delivery.

Businesses with questions are encouraged to contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at 817-426-9174 or rmoore@burlesontx.com
