Picture Book Browsing Bins Fundraising Campaign

The Friends of the Burleson Public Library are raising funds to bring picture book browsing bins to the children’s area of the Burleson Public Library. This project will replace 30-year-old picture book shelving with modern, child-friendly browsing bins designed specifically for young readers.

Why Browsing Bins?

Traditional library shelves display books with the spine facing outward. While this works well for many collections, young children often choose books based on the cover. Browsing bins display books face-out, making it easier for children to see colorful covers and discover stories that spark their interest.

These bins will:

  • Make it easier for young readers to find books they’re excited about
  • Encourage early literacy and independent book selection
  • Create a more welcoming and engaging children’s area
  • Help families quickly browse popular picture books
  • Improve access for children of all abilities, including those who may struggle with traditional shelving

In 2025 alone, picture books circulated over 19,000 times, showing how heavily this collection is used by families. The bins are durable, library-grade furniture, making this a long-term investment that will serve families for many years.

How You Can Help

The Friends of the Burleson Public Library are working toward their 2026 goal of purchasing browsing bins for the children’s section. Funds raised through Friends events and donations will go directly toward this project.

You can support the campaign by:

  • Attending Friends fundraising events
  • Donating during North Texas Giving Week
  • Shopping at the Friends Book Nook inside the library's foyer

Every contribution helps create a children’s space that encourages curiosity, exploration, and a lifelong love of reading.
