The City of Burleson held a heartfelt ceremony on the evening of November 17, 2025, to dedicate a memorial bench honoring Brandon Bennett, a Centennial High School student whose life and spirit continue to inspire those who knew him.
Located across from City Hall in Old Town Burleson, near the intersection of W. Renfro Street and S. Warren Street, the memorial bench stands as a symbol of love, remembrance and community support.
In honor of Brandon’s passing in December 2024, his classmates, friends and loved ones from Centennial High School rallied together, raising nearly $20,000 to create a lasting tribute in a place that held special meaning for him. A portion of those funds was used to create the memorial bench. Over several months, the Bennett family worked closely with city staff to design and place the bench, and city council reviewed and approved the project earlier this year.
“Today, this bench becomes more than a piece of the landscape—it becomes a gathering place,” said Mayor Chris Fletcher. “A place where his friends can reflect, where his family can remember and where our community can continue to honor a life that meant so much to so many.”
The dedication ceremony brought together Brandon’s family, classmates and friends, along with city council members and city staff.
“To all of Brandon’s friends—you were his world,” said Don Lombardo, speaking on behalf of the Bennett family. “My prayer is that when life feels heavy, you’ll come sit here in this place made for him and let the memories of your friendship remind you of the joy he brought into your lives.”
The bench is located near the Mayor Vera Calvin Plaza in Old Town, which was a meaningful spot for Brandon and his friends—a place where they spent time, made memories and enjoyed the heart of Burleson. The memorial now serves as a gathering place for reflection and connection, a reminder of how a community can come together in love and support.
