With temperatures expected to drop into the lower teens from Tuesday, Feb. 18, through Thursday, Feb. 20, the city of Burleson is opening warming stations for residents needing a place to stay warm during normal business hours.
Warming Stations
These locations are not overnight shelters.
Burleson Recreation Center (BRiCk), 550 N.W. Summercrest Blvd.
- Open Tuesday – Thursday, 4:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
- Membership is not required to use the warming station.
Burleson Public Library, 248 S.W. Johnson Ave.
- Open Tuesday – Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
- Open Thursday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Burleson Senior Activity Center, 216 S.W. Johnson Ave.
- Open Tuesday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Residents experiencing power outages should contact their electric provider:
If large portions of the community lose power or conditions worsen, the city will implement emergency plans, which may include extending warming station hours or opening overnight shelters. Updates will be posted on the city’s website at www.burlesontx.com and social media.

Winter Weather Preparedness Tips
- Roads: Public Works crews will pretreat roads ahead of snowfall. Keep a safe distance from their trucks.
- Irrigation: Turn off sprinklers to prevent icy sidewalks and roads.
- Pipes: Cover outdoor pipes, let faucets drip, and open under-sink cabinet doors.
- People: Check on elderly or vulnerable neighbors.
- Pets: Bring pets indoors. If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them.
- Plants: Cover outdoor plants with blankets or bring them inside.
- Electricity: ERCOT does not anticipate rolling blackouts, but ice may impact power lines. Report outages to Oncor or United Cooperative Services.
- Heating Safety: Do not use ovens or gas stovetops for heat. Keep space heaters away from flammable materials and turn them off when unattended.
- Updates: Follow local news stations and the US National Weather Service Fort Worth for the latest weather information.
