The City of Burleson has been awarded the 2025 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) Award from the National Procurement Institute. This is the fourth consecutive year Burleson has received the award. The Purchasing Division was formally recognized during the Dec. 15, 2025, city council meeting.
Burleson is one of only 48 cities in Texas to earn the AEP Award in 2025. The program recognizes public agencies that demonstrate a strong commitment to procurement excellence and to transparent, accountable use of public funds.
“Over the past year, the Purchasing Division has worked diligently to ensure every purchase made with taxpayer funds reflects both best value principles and full compliance with Texas local government code,” said Purchasing Manager Andrea Anderson. “This is no small task, but we are fortunate to have a capable, dedicated team that approaches this responsibility with pride and purpose.”
The AEP program honors procurement organizations that embrace innovation, professionalism, productivity and leadership in purchasing. To qualify, agencies must meet a comprehensive set of criteria that measure the use of best practices, strong policies and procedures, staff training and ongoing process improvement.
Each year, the City of Burleson raises its internal standards to remain competitive in the AEP program. This year points were earned specifically for enhancements to the city's solicitation processes and commitment to cross-departmental collaboration.
The Purchasing Division ensures that every purchase made with public funds supports the best interests of Burleson residents while maintaining fairness, integrity and full compliance in all procurement activities.
