Winter Weather Update 1: Monday, Jan. 30

Updates on city preparations for the winter weather event:

Streets

The Public Works Department has begun applying salt brine as a precaution for the upcoming winter weather. This will primarily be applied on major roads, intersections, and known problem areas. The team is also ready to begin sanding operations should this be required. Public Works crews began preparing on Friday and will work 12-hour shifts, operating 24 hours a day until the winter event passes.

Residential roads will most likely not be treated during this winter weather event. Please use caution as you travel in your neighborhood.

Warming Centers

The Burleson Recreation Center is the city's designated warming center during regular hours for any residents to utilize. At this time, the city is not planning on opening a facility for an overnight shelter. Of course, this may change if large portions of our community lose power for an extended period.

Other Resources

  • Tarrant County will offer cold weather shelter at existing emergency shelters located at Union Gospel Mission (1321 E. Lancaster, Fort Worth), Presbyterian Night Shelter (2400 Cypress, Fort Worth), or The Salvation Army Mabee Center (1855 E. Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth).
  • Johnson County
