The mission of the SWAT Team is to resolve extreme-risk situations with a minimum of force, personal injury or property damage. The SWAT team is trained to handle unconventional and high-risk law enforcement situations. These incidents involve a higher-than-normal risk or require special skills unique to a tactical unit.

Ready Response

Since the 1980s, the Burleson Police Department has provided a ready response to situations that exceed the capabilities of normally equipped and trained personnel. The presence of a highly trained, highly skilled tactical unit has been shown to substantially reduce the risk of injury or loss of life to citizens, police officers and suspects. A well-managed team response to critical incidents typically results in successful resolution.

The Burleson Police Department works with other area law enforcement agencies in Johnson and Tarrant counties as a resource during critical incidents.
