November 24, 1899
Women in Burleson form the Eumathian Club and members create a circulating library of books. For 70 years the collection can be found in various locations around town, including a department store, W.P. Lace's drug store and the Methodist church.
May 21, 1969
The Eumathian Club makes a plan to purchase the Renfro-Clark home for $17,500 and use it for a library.
Fundraising projects begin to pay for the new library.
October 23, 1969
Burleson Library, Inc. is formed and elects officers.
January 18, 1971
The Burleson Public Library opens to the public. Hours are
1 to 5 Mon - Fri
10 to 2 Sat
March 18, 1971
The Renfro - Clark house is designated a historic landmark by the Texas Historical Commission.
November 1, 1973
The Eumathian Club pays off the library loan to Merchants State Bank of Burleson.
April 16, 1979
After a $175,000 bond is approved by citizens, Burleson breaks ground on a new library at 216 S.W. Johnson.
March 4, 1980
The Burleson Public Library opens to the public in its second location. The building is now the Senior Activity Center.
July 4, 1983
Five TRS-80 computers are given to the library through a pilot program of the North Texas Library System.
November 1985
The Friends of the Burleson Public Library is formed.
March 23, 1995
The City of Burleson breaks ground on a new 17,000 sq ft. library at 248 S.W. Johnson.
July 20, 1996
The Burleson Public Library opens to the public in its current location.
January 4, 1999
The library gets Internet access for the first time through a state grant.
